The National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) has selected Dr. Lois Moore as its 2005 recipient of the Carl A. Grant Multicultural Research Award. This award is given to remarkable educators who have:
A. A long term, scholarly commitment to multicultural education;
B. A multicultural theoretical framework with an established chain of inquiry;
C. Research which addresses multiple facets of diversity;
D. Investigated complex issues in novel ways that lead to deeper understanding of the manner in which multicultural issues manifest themselves in schools and society;
E. Established a publication record;
F. Established a record of sharing research results with colleagues in professional forums;
G. Broken new ground in our thinking about multicultural issues.
This award honors Dr. Lois Moore's career-long efforts addressing multiculturalism and diversity.
Dr. Moore will receive this award at the NAME Awards Dinner on November 12, 2005, at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Atlanta, Georgia.
"I feel very honored to be recognized on an international scale for my scholarly research and publication of Voices of Successful African American Men," confessed Dr. Moore.
Dr. Lois Moore is an adjunct professor in our International and Multicultural Education Department. She is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers. Dr. Moore is a recipient of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award, the African American Community Entrustment Portrait of Success Award, and the Bay Area Blacks in Philanthropy Leadership and Achievement Award. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Marin Community Foundation.
