USF Center for Instruction and Technology Faculty Award I In May, Trey Cosgriff, SOE adjunct faculty member, received the CIT Faculty Award which recognizes outstanding use of technology in the classroom or on-line. His Authentic Educational Technology course creates an environment in which SOE students get to combine theory and practice, teaching local junior high school students. |

Annual Student Recognition Awards Ceremony | On May 18, the School of Education and Education Alumni Society held their 15th Annual Student Recognition Awards Ceremony. 90 students from 45 local, private, Catholic schools were honored. Students were selected for two award categories: Consistent Academic Excellence and Most Improved Academic Excellence. Congratulations to all! |

On Saturday, April 2nd, a panel of SOE faculty members, including Sr. Jeanne, Dr. Busk, Dr. Evans, Dr. Katz, Dr. Pace, and Dr. Flores, shared their expertise with students on “How to Present Research at the Symposium or Conference Level”. Topics included: delivering powerful presentations, creating effective handouts, integrating technology into presentations, and fielding difficult questions. |

Reading the World VII | On March 12-13, the IME Department hosted Reading the World VII, a conference celebrating multicultural literature for children and young adults. The 3rd Annual Hawaii International Conference on Education was held in Honolulu, Hawaii, January 4-7, 2005. Dr. Patricia Mitchell and Dr. Betty Taylor and four doctoral students, Valerie Skinner-Martin, Verronda Moore, Cynthia Vanzant and Terry Nordstrom presented referee papers on a panel that focused on the topic of Emotional Intelligence and its Educational Applications. IME Adjunct Named Novato Citizen of the Year | Longtime Novato educator Lois Moore was recently named the Novato Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year for 2004.
