This course provides individual mentorship in a chosen project about law.  For example, students may prepare or revise a handbook for faculty, boards, students, parents or athletic programs.

This course provides an in-depth look at Catholic Social Thought as well as movements within the Catholic Church inspired by Catholic Social Thought which engage social issues and moral problems. Ways in which Christian thinkers and activists view Catholic Social Thought as a public calling are addressed.

Participants in this course will explore both the theory and technique of service-learning pedagogy. We'll examine "best practices" for course construction, partnership with community organizations, reflection, and learning assessment. We'll visit a nonprofit organization engaged in service-learning and develop course components such as learning outcomes, reflective assignments, and memoranda of understanding with community partners.

Students will be encouraged to explore their spiritualities from the perspective of a postmodern paradigm that emerged from the Second Vatican Council, as well as to consider ways to integrate the spiritual dimension throughout the school curriculum.

This seminar is grounded in key documents of the Second Vatican Council (1962-65) and moves into a critical appraisal of their interpretation and implementation in our contemporary academic settings. Drawing upon their experiences, insights, and responses to class readings, writings, and discussions, students will develop a clear understanding and appreciatiion of their unique apostolate of educating "minds and hearts to change the world."
