Description of Institution: De Marillac Academy, founded in 2001, is a Roman Catholic, co-educational, school sponsored by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul of the Province of the West and the De La Salle Christian Brothers, District of San Francisco. The school serves fourth through eighth grade students from the Tenderloin and other at-risk communities in San Francisco, CA.
Description of Position/Requirements: Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the President must be a dynamic leader committed to the education of the young, especially the poor and marginalized. The President must demonstrate a record of sound fiscal accountability, executive management, and the achievement of innovative operational and strategic goals. We are looking for a visionary leader who is a practicing Roman Catholic and who can effectively articulate the school's mission to its various constituencies.
The ability to create a collaborative, inclusive environment, conducive to sincere and open communication is critical. The President should have an accessible, open, and approachable style, which demonstrates a willingness to listen and encourage the development of new ideas while also offering creative solutions to a variety of challenges. It is important that the President respect the dignity of every person and model behavior that demonstrates concern for all individuals, especially low income, marginalized, and culturally diverse families and students.
Fund-raising is an essential element of this position. The President is responsible for the development and direction of ethical fundraising activities, including potential donors, solicitation of grants and donations, unrestricted and restricted, from foundations, trusts, organizations, and individuals in close cooperation with the school s development office.

Location: De Marillac Academy
Description of Institution: De Marillac is a Catholic, co-educational school in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District. The school was established in 2001 and is co-sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers and the Daughters of Charity. De Marillac is tuition-free and seeks students who would be considered “at-risk” because of social, academic, economic, and/or family circumstances. The school serves a diverse student body of 100 fourth-eighth graders.
Description of Position: De Marillac Academy seeks a highly motivated, experienced, organized, and mission-centered Business Manager to join our team for the 2007-2008 academic year. Reporting directly to the President, the Business Manager is responsible for facilitating the financial, human resources, and physical plant operations of De Marillac Academy. A wide range of administrative and executive tasks constitute the main functions of the position. The role requires a close working relationship with the administration, faculty and staff, and supporting vendors of De Marillac Academy.
Position Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree with at least two years of relevant experience preferred
• Excellent telephone and computer skills (Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge)
• Database management experience
• Familiarity with general accounting practices
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to plan and follow through on tasks
• Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete multiple tasks on time
• Proven ability to work well within a team and independently
• Demonstrated experience in all aspects of clerical responsibilities
• Discretion in handling confidential information
• Prior experience in an office setting within a nonprofit organization and/or educational institution preferred
Available: July 2007
Salary: The Business Manager is a half-time, twelve-month position. Salary will be competitive based upon experience and qualifications. De Marillac provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and retirement.
