Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language
with Preliminary Single or Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
Students in the basic teaching credential programs at USF may wish to simultaneously complete a Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). This degree is designed for individuals who wish to work with ESL students in K-12 schools, travel abroad and teach English, or be eligible to teach ESL at the community college level. In addition to credential courses taken, five additional courses (15 units) are required and are listed below the credential requirements in the following chart. Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language - Required Coursework
For candidates who complete all teaching credential program requirements at USF, the M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language may be obtained by successfully completing the following five courses offered in the Department of International and Multicultural Education and General Education (15 units).
