Description

Constructivism and Technology is a "hands-on," introductory course on constructivist views of teaching and learning. This course will cover:

  1. The history of constructivism
  2. Constructivism as applied to the teaching of language arts, social studies, science, and mathematics
  3. The design of inquiry-based instruction
  4. Alternative assessment strategies that support learning
  5. The uses of technology in constructivist classrooms

Objectives:

Exploring Constructivism seeks to develop the following:
  1. A critical understanding of constructivism as a learning theory
  2. A critical understanding of the history and evolution of constructivism and its impact on educational technology
  3. An ability to evaluate and design inquiry-based lessons that employ technology
  4. A critical understanding of inquiry-based pedagogical strategies
  5. The ability to evaluate and develop assessment strategies consistent with a student-centered, inquiry-based learning environment
