Preliminary Single Subject Credential (BCLAD optional)

Optional Bilingual Crosscultural Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) Emphasis information below.

Admissions Requirements

To be admitted to the teaching credential programs, applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university. In addition to the general requirements for admission to the School of Education, applicants must also show that they have met the California basic skills requirement and demonstrate that they have subject matter competency in the areas in which they intend to teach.

Candidates for the Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential, must pass the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) to meet the basic skills requirement. They must also pass the California Subject Exam for Teachers (CSET) in their subject area.
