As you search for the best fit for your future, you may be wondering what the benefits of obtaining a credential from the USF School of Education's Special Education program would be.   1. Two Years to a Level II Professional Clear Credential
    All requirements needed to obtain your clear credential and optional master’s degree can be completed in the two-year program, including summers.

  2. Work While You Learn with a Full-Time Teacher’s Salary
    You will be earning a full salary as a mild/moderate special education teacher on an intern credential while you attend USF. Job placement assistance is provided in the program. Coursework is relevant, practical, job-related, and is based on current models of education and research.

  3. Extensive Support and Mentoring
    A full-time faculty member will be your program advisor. In addition, a doctoral student will provide you with one-on-one and small group mentoring. The fieldwork coordinator can help you secure a job and complete all credential requirements. On the job, you will have a Fieldwork Supervisor and a District Support Provider to help you with your classroom and other job needs.

  4. Evening Courses
    After the initial summer courses, classes are offered on Wednesday evenings and one full day per month.

  5. Small Class Size
    Cohort groups average 20 to 30 students, with the faculty and staff dedicated to supporting you and assuring your success.

  6. Support for Testing Required by the State
    Classes and study materials are available to help you prepare for the RICA and other tests mandated for the teaching credential.

  7. Technology Integration
    You will learn to use educational and adaptive technologies that are integrated into the curriculum.
