Collaboration, Learning and Life Experience | Fall 2004
On February 26-28, students from the University of San Francisco, School of Education, Organization and Leadership Program had the opportunity to attend the Women Presidents? Organization 2004 Conference held at the Grand Hyatt Union Square Hotel in San Francisco. Dr. Ann Blackburn, a graduate of the Organization and Leadership Doctoral Program, and a member of the Conference Steering Committee, had arranged for students from Dr. Patricia Mitchell?s (Chair of Organization and Leadership Program at the School of Education, University of San Francisco) Women in Management class to shadow one of their members of the organization and to attend the conference. The Women Presidents? Organization is a non-profit membership organization for a diverse group of women presidents who have guided their businesses to at least $2 million in gross annual sales. One of the culminating activities of this unforgettable experience is the compilation of student reflections during the conference.

President-Elect of American Educational Research Association
Gloria J. Ladson-Billings, Ph.D., professor of curriculum and instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and president-elect of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) joined the Organization and Leadership Program, School of Education in a roundtable discussion on Saturday, June 12, 2004.
Dr. Patricia Mitchell, Chair of the Organization and Leadership Program introduced Dr. Ladson-Billings. Among Dr. Ladson-Billings' numerous activities, her research has concentrated on multicultural education, social studies, critical race theory and education, and culturally relevant pedagogy.
AERA represents 22,000 educators who are dedicated to research that addresses fundamental problems and informs policy and practice in�education, from pre-kindergarten to post-secondary education and beyond.
