Organization and Leadership
Leadership is the essential resource for creating and sustaining organizations, communities, and societies. The Organization and Leadership Program (O&L) is composed of a diverse and unique faculty that draws upon a common ethic to teach and live leadership through commitment, academic excellence, and innovative practice. This ethic is the heart of faculty and student work in O&L. Graduates leave our program and bring to their leadership practice this core understanding.
The primary goal of the O&L program is to bring before students a continuum of new knowledge and understanding that reflects current theories, research and innovative practices. The program opens with a trio of courses, an overture to O&L. The themes in these courses introduce students to different possibilities for further study. Students have opportunities to follow one or more focus areas that include:
- Chaos and Complexity Sciences;
- Educational Leadership;
- Interpretive Development and Organization Policy;
- Urban Leadership.
Graduates of O&L are educators who work in leadership, management, research,
all levels of teaching, and policy positions in the fields of education, business, health care, government, consulting, profit, and non-profit settings. Local, regional, state, national, and international careers await our graduates.
"The School of Education O&L program taught me critical skills needed in my career. I am able to analyze organizational systems and data, recognize excellent leadership practices, and develop and implement high quality programs. I recommend USF to working professionals who want to hone their intellectual skills and use their leadership abilities."
