SPSS Resource and Tutorial
Welcome to the School of Education's on-line SPSS resource and tutorial program.
SPSS is a computerized statistical software package used widely in the natural and social sciences. It is a user-friendly tool to help you organize and analyze your data. The purpose of this tutorial program is to provide first-time users and advanced beginners clear explanations to answer some common questions. While nothing replaces formal classroom instruction or personal experience, we hope to give you enough information and skills to begin to enter, analyze, and display your data.
The resource and tutorial program is a self-paced, self-contained instructional unit consisting of five modules. It can be customized to meet the needs of beginning learners or those with a bit more knowledge. Novices may wish to work through the program sequentially, beginning with the basics of logging in and accessing files (Module I) and gradually moving to more complex topics (Modules III and IV). Advanced users may wish to skip the preliminaries and get right to work. For such users the frequently asked questions will point you in the right direction. Regardless of your skill level it is recommended to have SPSS running concurrently while working through this program.
The program's five modules are listed below:
Module I. Getting Started
Module II. Navigation, Data Entry and Management
Module III. Summarizing and Describing Data
Module IV. Data Analysis
Module V. Displaying Data (not yet available)
