USF Graduate Merit Scholarships
The University of San Francisco provides merit scholarships to students
admitted to its graduate degree programs. The amount of the award as well
as terms and conditions for participation vary for each School and College.
A limited number of Graduate Merit Scholarships are allocated to the
School of Education every academic year to support research, teaching and
administrative assignments for qualified students.
| Eligibility |
Students must
be admitted to and enrolled in the School of Education. Preference is
usually given to doctoral students, but departments offering only master’s programs may nominate master’s level students. Other master’s students will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Students classified as “international” or “special status” are not eligible. |
| Conditions |
Students need to be recommended
by a School of Education full-time faculty member. Students are not eligible to apply until after they have completed at least one semester of their School of Education program. |
| Amount |
Successful applicants can receive a tuition scholarship equivalent to up to 3 units of credit per academic year, disbursed usually during the fall semester. Three units correspond to a maximum of 200 hours of work. Semester substitutions, mergers and partial grants will not be considered. |

June 1st for the following academic
year. |
| Application |
Interested students should submit:
- a completed application form;
- Recommendation from the full-time faculty member of the School of Education who will be supervising the research, teaching or administrative assignment (see page 2 of the application form);
- An unofficial copy of the student's current USF transcript;
- An up-to-date résumé.

Allen and Dorothy Calvin Doctoral Dissertation Awards
The Allen and Dorothy Calvin Doctoral Dissertation Awards are awarded on a competitive basis to promising School of Education doctoral students to assist with their doctoral research.
| Eligibility |
All School of Education doctoral students who have been advanced to candidacy are eligible to apply. |
| Amount |
A $1,000 award will be granted up to two applicants per academic year (one each semester) after a competitive review process. |
| Deadlines |
Spring: Application due by USF Census Date / Scholarship awarded in March.
Fall: Application due by USF Census Date / Scholarship awarded in October. |

TEAMS/Americorps Fellowship Program
The TEAMS/Americorps Fellowship Program is an initiative of the University of San Francisco that is designed
to recruit and support prospective K-12 educators, counselors, and administrators who are
committed to serving schools in culturally diverse, low-income communities.
The TEAMS Fellowship program provides $4,725 in AmeriCorps Education Awards which can
be used to pay for current or future graduate school tuition, or to repay
existing student loans. Fellows who participate in the program at USF may
also be eligible for tuition scholarships and housing grants.

Students must
be admitted to and enrolled in the School of Education. |
| Conditions |
Full-time Fellows must complete
1,700 hours of service through a full-time placement in a public school as an intern, teacher,
paraprofessional or volunteer; conduct a service-learning project with
students; and attend pre-service training workshops. |
| Amount |
$4,725 per year for up to two
years of service (up to $9,450 total). Additional scholarships are available for USF Teacher
Education students. |

Priority Deadline: April 30th
General Deadline: July 15th
Applications submitted after the deadlines are accepted on a space available basis. |

Catholic Educator Reduced Tuition
Rate
| Eligibility |
This reduced
tuition rate is available to students who are Catholic school teachers/employees or students who are connected to a Catholic organization and
who are applying to the teacher credential program. |
| Conditions |
Eligible applicants must submit
a letter of recommendation from their school principal. This letter
should verify the applicant’s suitability for the program, commitment
to Catholic education, and verification of employment or significant
volunteer work at a Catholic school. |
| Amount |
Tuition rate is currently $465
per unit. |

Teacher's Housing Cooperative Grant
Thanks to a collaboration between the USF School of Education and the Teachers’
Housing Cooperative (THC), this grant provides financial incentive for
teachers who live and work in San Francisco.
| Eligibility |
This grant is
available to students who are accepted in the TEAMS Teaching Fellowship
program and are enrolled in a teaching credential program at the USF
School of Education. |
| Conditions |
Grant recipients are expected
to work in the San Francisco Unified School District public schools
for a minimum of two years. |
| Amount |
Up to $600 monthly stipends. |

Conference Presentation Stipend
All currently enrolled Masters and Doctoral School of Education students are eligible to apply for the Conference Presentation Stipend to assist in conference expenses. (Special status students are not eligible to apply.) Applications will be reviewed by the applicant's department chair and faculty members.
| Eligibility |
Applicants must have been officially accepted to present (e.g., individual presentation, panel presentation, poster presentation) at a professional - national or international - conference related to their field(s) of study. |
| Conditions |
The Conference Presentation Stipend:
- can only be used to cover conference-related costs such as travel/transportation, registration, accommodations and/or printing/duplicating costs;
- is granted as reimbursement after all receipts of covered expenses have been submitted (original receipts must be submitted to the Dean's Office immediately after the conference);
- can fund a student for only one conference per term, determined as per the date of the conference (Term 1: January-July / Term 2: August-December).
