California Pre-Doctoral Program/Sally Casanova Pre-Doctoral Scholars

The California Pre-Doctoral Program is designed to increase the pool of potential faculty by supporting doctoral aspirations of California State University (CSU) students who have experienced economic and educational disadvantages.

Eligibility
Applicants must be CSU graduate students (U.S. citizens and permanent residents) who want to pursue a doctoral degree at a doctoral-granting institution.
Conditions
Students must work closely with a CSU pre-doctoral program advisor and with faculty at the doctoral-granting institution.
Amount
Scholarship covers graduate school application and test fees, membership in professional organizations, journal subscriptions, etc.
Deadline
Early April.

Chicana/Latina Foundation Scholarship

The Chicana/Latina Foundation Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to continuing graduate female college students of Latino background.

Eligibility Be a Chicana/Latina woman; be a resident for at least two years in one of the following Bay Area counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma.
Conditions Students must be enrolled in accredited colleges/universities in the listed Bay Area counties. All applicants must have demonstrated leadership and civic/community involvement. If awarded a scholarship, applicant must agree to do some volunteer work in the next year in support of the Chicana/Latina Foundation.
Amount
Awards are for $1,500 and are given in two installments upon verification of student enrollment.
Deadline
Mid-March (check web site for exact application date).
