Alston/Bannerman Fellowship Program

The Alston/Bannerman Scholarship Program is committed to advancing progressive social change by helping to sustain long-time activists of color. This program honors those who have devoted their lives to helping their communities organize racial, social, economic and environmental justice. It provides resources for such organizers to take sabbaticals for reflection and renewal.

Eligibility
Applicants must be CSU graduate students (U.S. citizens and permanent residents) who want to pursue a doctoral degree at a doctoral-granting insitution.
Conditions
Applicants must demonstrate commitment to work for social changes; be a person of color; live in the United States.
Amount
$15,000 each.
Deadline
December 1st.

Spencer Dissertation Fellowships

The Spencer Foundation seeks to provide assistance to doctoral students whose dissertation show potential for bringing fresh and constructive perspectives to the history, theory or practice of formal or informal education anywhere in the world. These fellowships are intended to support the final analysis of the research topic and the writing of the dissertation. Dissertation topics must be related to education, but graduate studies may be in any academic disciplines.

Eligibility Applicants must be doctoral candidates for a doctoral degree at a graduate school in the United States, but need not be U.S. citizens.
Amount
Annual stipend of $20,000.

The American Association of University Women

The American Association of University Women offers fellowships to support women to conduct dissertation or post-doctoral research.

Eligibility
Applicants must be doctoral candidates (U.S. citizens and permanent residents) who are completing dissertations or will soon conduct post-doctoral research.
Conditions
Applicants are evaluated on the basis of scholarly excellence, teaching experience, and active commitment to helping women and girls through service in their communities, professions or fields of research.
Amount
Individual awards of $20,000 for dissertation research and $30,000 for post-doctoral research.
Deadline
November 15.
